Plans are in place for major renovation work at St. Patrick’s Hall, which has fallen into a sad state of disrepair in recent years. When completed the ‘hall’ as it is known to the local community will provide modern services and facilities for a wide range of local organisations. It is anticipated that the cost involved in undertaking this work will be substantial and in addition to sourcing grant-aid and securing other funding, that quite an amount of local fund-raising will also be required. Towards this end a Period Mock Wedding and Garden Fete will be held at Clifden House, Corofin on this Saturday August 30th between 3.00pm and 8.00pm. This will be a community day out with a difference and the programme for the day will include fun and games for all the family, a variety of musical entertainment and dance and the mock wedding performed by members of Corofin Dramatic Society. Another unique feature of the day will feature a hog-roast as the centrepiece of the wedding feast which is available to all guests on the day. The organisers have put huge work into the organisation of the event and are hoping for strong support from the community on Saturday. Tickets for Saturday’s extravaganza are available from most local outlets.
