        Burren Walks

        Walks Schedule

Every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons in June, Juy and August.

Meet: 2.30 pl at the Burren Centre Kilfenora. The walks take place in the Burren National Park.

Fee: 20 euro per person. Under 16's free of charge.

        Duration: 2 hours.
Walks go ahead, rain or shine!

( Walks also take place at times other than those scheduled. Please make contact for details.)

Just some of the numerous enigmas resolved during our walks:

Reverse transhumance is the practice whereby cattle are taken from lowlands to uplands in the winter. The Burren is the only region in Europe where this practice. Why is this so?

One of Ireland's greatest inland forts is situated in the Burren. Why does it remain only a minor visitor attraction?
Why has the Burren one of the greatest concentrations of archaeological monuments in the north west of Europe?
